Rebbie Jackson is best known as the elder sister of Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson, and for her debut, "Centipede".
History[]
Maureen Reilette Brown was born Maureen Reilette Jackson on May 29, 1950 in Gary, Indiana to Joe and Katherine Jackson. After helping to raise her younger siblings, Jackson announced she wished to marry her high school sweetheart Nathaniel Brown.
Joe wanted her to follow in the footsteps of her younger brothers, The Jacksons, however she married Brown in 1968 anyways, and had their first child, Stacee , born on May 5,1971. They had their second child, Yashi born on October 5,1977 and their third child Austin was born on November 22,1985. Nathaniel died of cancer on January 6, 2013. Stacee married Rex Salas, who was born on March 16,1962. They have a son named London Blue Salas, who was born on July 25,2005.
Finally giving in, she took the stage name Rebbie Jackson, and started perfoming live with her family in 1974. She joined her brothers TV show, "The Jacksons" in 1976, which ended in 1977. She had her second child, Yashi later that year. Then for a short time, she was a girl group with her younger sisters La Toya and Janet, but they split over creative differences.
She eventually signed to CBS Records as a solo artist in 1982. After much delay, her debut album, "Centipede" was released in 1984. The title track became a hit, and in 1985 she had her third child, Austin. Her sophomore album, "Reaction" was released afterwords in 1986, but it did not have the same success. Her third album, "R U Tuff Enuff" was released in 1988 before she left her label in 1989 to be with her family.
In 1995, she signed to MJJ Music, and released her fourth album, "Yours Faithfully" in 1998. She left the label the following year, and has not been active in music since.
